Assessment and Reports
We believe that assessment can be used to improve our educational program by offering constructive feedback for teachers, students, parents, and administrators. We do not rely on testing as the only method of assessment; instead, we utilize a variety of assessment tools and observational techniques to document students’ progress in relation to grade-appropriate expectations throughout the academic year. Our students are evaluated on their procedural and conceptual understanding of each standard through many opportunities for group and individual work, as well as through observations, performances, presentations, and projects where their learning is demonstrated.

- At BIS, homework is assigned daily and, on occasion, weekly. The primary purpose of homework is to reinforce the concepts learned in class, provide additional practice for skill development and support self-directed learning.
